A year ago, in March 2019, the Citroën factory presented a concept vehicle called the AMI ONE at the Geneva Motor Show. Electric car for urban driving, that can be driven by 16-year-olds.
On February 27, a production model under the name AMI ËLECTRIC was presented in Paris. Because designers had to take into account the cost of making the bodywork, the design is quite different from the concept. It is more simple but still interesting. The front and rear of the vehicle are identical in design, so they only need one tool to produce the body element.
Due to its compact size (length 2.41 m, width 1.39 m, height 1.52 m) and small turning radius (only 7.20 m), this toddler is very agile in urban driving and parking. The maximum speed is 45 km/h, the distance reached by a single charge is 70 km. It charges like a smartphone on a regular socket. Charging time is 3 hours. Due to its low speed and weight (485 kg), it can be driven by 16-year-olds with a moped exam.
The smartphone serves as a key to open the door, and when inserted into the armature it also serves as an instrument to provide the driver with the necessary information (speed, battery status and navigation). The price of AMI will be around 6500 EUR. The launch in France is scheduled for late March.
