Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este
Celebrating historic cars on the shores of Lake Como
One of the most prestigious and definitely the oldest events Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is held every spring since 1929 in the small town of Cernobbio on Lake Como. Since 2000, the patronage of the event is BMW Group Classic.
This year’s event, which was held from 21st till 22nd May, was also marked by the 100th anniversary of the factory BMW. In a beautiful park by the Villa Este and Villa Erba there were 52 classic cars, divided into 9 classes. This year the competition also included rally cars. In addition to classic historic cars the jury also evaluated six concept cars.
The jury members, who decided on the winner were: Lorenzo Ramaciotti (Italy) – president of the jury since 2004, Carlo Otto Brambilla (Italy) – journalist, secretary of the jury, Ian Camron (England) – the chief designer of Rolls-Royce-a, Harm Lagaaij (Netherlands) – former chief designer at Ford, BMW and Porsche, Lord Charles March (England) – organizer of the event Goodwood Festival of Speed, Adolfo Orsi (Italy) – specialist for vehicles Maserati and for the history of Italian motosport, Stefano Pasini (Italy) – journalist and author of several books on the history of cars, Patrick le Quément (France) – former director of the Renault design, Philip Rathgen (Germany) – a member of the editorial ClassicDriver.
